The children were sleeping at the crib, while I was strapped in with one of them to my back. Ha! The home was starting to appear nice, however there was a lot to be done. To complete this task, I was prepared to invest a significant amount of time and money shopping for my dream home. To stay the cost within my means I took my kids along to search for hidden treasures at estate sales. Each week we would spend between Thursday and Saturday in estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. Then I painted and sanded in the driveway during the workweek. It was kind of similar to the following... Here is where my love for the restoration of antique furniture began. Although our house was decorated, I was unable to put down. There was an area on the market where I sold items. Eventually, my collection grew so large that the room I had available was not enough. My home became a place where I would host open houses, where up 1000 people would be able to view the things on the first floor, and then purchase these items. Growing Days was founded in my own home. Growing Days was more than a thriving business but as well my family. I was balancing the demands between what it took to start a new business while also being a mommy. Growing Days just fit. My daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. This was a fantastic direction for my company, but I also needed some time off. I decided to take a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and also slowed my pace and stayed at home to take care of the kids. In the beginning, this was exactly what I needed. However after a few months after that, the phone began to call. I began receiving messages from individuals asking for help in home improvement and interior design. A majority of those calling me were from those who came to my house at one of my furniture open house events. As I went along I added new customers to my client list each day. However, it didn't take that long before I was managing several clients, and had an extremely successful business of home renovation. If you'd told me that my venture would end up being the basis for a DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the story.
