Laura Linney is an American actress who is famous for her portrayal of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was an acclaimed playwright. However, she was raised as an only child by her single-mother who was a nurse. Through the summer months, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for theatre. Her first stage experience was initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway shortly after her graduation, she made her debut in films within two years. She also appeared on TV within a year. Since then, she has appeared in many films, TV productions and stage shows. She has been awarded numerous prizes throughout her career. This includes the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Although she received many awards through the years, performing was always her primary passion.
